Retired Detective Second Grade Constantine Papadopoulos began his career with the New York City Police Department as a uniformed patrol officer in 1996. Then assigned to the narcotics division as an undercover, where he earned his Detective shield in 2002. Retired Detective Papadopoulos was granted assignment to the Detective Bureau in the114th Precinct Detective Squad. He spent the next eleven years in the squad investigating a variety of criminal cases, including assaults, robberies, burglaries, larcenies, financial crimes and homicides. His work in the squad earned him a position in the Queens Major Case Squad, where he worked with other elite Detectives on bank robberies, kidnappings, art theft, high end burglaries. While assigned to the Major Case Squad, Retired Detective Papadopoulos also was selected to receive polygraph training in Maryland. Retired Detective Papadopoulos utilized his polygraph training to assist in major investigations and secured confessions during polygraph interviews. To date, Detective Papadopoulos has conducted more than 500 polygraph examinations.
Never one to rest on his laurels, retired Detective Papadopoulos then transferred to the Joint Terrorism Task Force in 2015. After going through a vigorous vetting process, he was granted Top Secret security clearance and was assigned to a unit tasked with ISIS investigations. Retired, Detective Papadopoulos worked alongside other New York City Police Department detectives, FBI, CIA, HSI, State Department, and other law enforcement agencies to ensure the country’s domestic security. During his tenure in JTTF, Detective Papadopoulos participated in several high profile terror cases, including the Port Authority bombing, and assisted in thwarting other plots against the United States and its citizens. His investigations brought him to several domestic cities, as well as overseas.
In 2021 Detective Papadopoulos was Awarded the Federal Law Enforcement Agent of the Year.
